Denise Lee

Founder & Executive Director

A lifelong artist and advocate, Denise brings nearly four decades of experience as an actress, singer, producer, educator, and community facilitator to her work. Following the 2016 Dallas police shootings, she launched Community Conversation, creating a space where people from diverse backgrounds could engage in meaningful dialogue around race, identity, equity, and community. The success of those conversations led to the creation of Visions For Change, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization in 2020, where she serves as the Executive Director.

Under Denise's leadership, Visions For Change has expanded its impact through community conversations, arts programming, educational workshops, and collaborative partnerships that use storytelling and dialogue as tools for understanding and social change.

Denise's unique approach is rooted in her belief that art and conversation are powerful catalysts for transformation. Often describing herself as an "artivist," she bridges the worlds of performance and advocacy, helping communities navigate difficult conversations while honoring the dignity and humanity of every voice.

In addition to leading Visions For Change, Denise serves on the Board of Directors of the AT&T Performing Arts Center and on the Advisory Board of the Duncanville Arts Foundation. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards for artistic excellence, leadership, and community service.

Through Visions For Change, Denise continues to champion a vision of communities united by understanding, respect, and equity, where every voice matters and every story has the power to spark change.

‘Everything begins with engagement. We don’t always have to agree but if we are open to an exchange of ideas, that can be a starting point that changes our society for the better. And that’s where the Vision begins.’

- Denise Lee, Executive Director of Visions For Change, Inc.
